A warm welcome to the Nailsea Arts and Music festival 2008.
This is the second year of what we hope will be an annual event. The festival brings together three great adjoining venues in Nailsea; the Tithe Barn, Holy Trinity Church and the Ring of Bells. It is a joint venture between Nailsea Folk Club and the Church and aims to provide a range of national and international music as well as a show case local talent. It is also about having fun and being part of a community. The Tithe Barn is full of character but is in need of refurbishment. The festival helps to promote its cause. The Barn’s ancient timbers date back to the late 1400’s and it was a school from the late 1700’s until 1985. Holy Trinity church dates back to the 13th Century and thanks to a recent “reordering” offers a modern, comfortable and flexible interior with a great acoustic, ideal for vocal groups. The old pub has a large function room used for concerts and has a great selection of food and beers.
The festival spans the second week of May and offers a wide variety of music, dance and arts and craft opportunities. The detailed programme will be finalised at the beginning of March but this years highlights includes sacred and folk Russian Music from the Blagovest Ensemble who are based in St Petersburg and the mega folk duo Boden and Spiers.
Our first festival in 2007 attracted a lot of interest and raised £2500 towards the Barn’s renovation.
We look forward to seeing you!
